Man Utd news: Ferguson approves Mourinho successor, Sanchez decision made, Greenwood plan | Football | Sport

Man Utd boss approved by Ferguson

Sir Alex Ferguson reportedly believes Manchester United would be onto a winner should they sack Jose Mourinho for Tottenham’s Mauricio Pochettino.

Mourinho’s future is far from certain, with the Red Devils struggling in the Premier League.

And the Sun say Ferguson would welcome Pochettino to United because he rates the Argentine as both a man and manager.

Ferguson supposedly feels the Tottenham boss has done a stunning job in north London – just like Southampton before him.

Whether Pochettino can be snapped up as Mourinho’s replacement, though, remains to be seen.

Sanchez decision made

Manchester United have allowed Alexis Sanchez to return to Chile as they hold out hope he will return to his swashbuckling best.

The Chile international has managed just four goals since arriving from Arsenal in January.

And the Independent say Sanchez has been sent back to Chile for the festive season.

United reportedly feel that the player can benefit from time in his homeland, particularly following his break-up with Mayte Rodriguez.

And it also means Sanchez will be able to spend time with his family over Christmas.

Greenwood stance

Given Romelu Lukaku’s wayward form, you can forgive United for looking at Mason Greenwood.

The 17-year-old has bagged 17 goals across the club’s youth teams so far this season.

But Goal claim Mourinho has no plans to throw him into the mix.

Lukaku – and both Sanchez and Marcus Rashford – have toiled in front of goal this season.

Yet it appears Greenwood is not in the mix.
